We are proud to play a role in supporting Australian industry — providing reliable materials, precision workmanship, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing the job has been done right.
MISCO Australia stands at an important point in its journey — evolving from a respected supplier into a recognised leader in electrical and thermal insulation materials and precision manufacturing.
The rebrand in 2024 marked more than a change of name; it represented a renewed commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future of Australian manufacturing.
As industries adapt to new technologies and stricter performance standards, MISCO’s focus is on continuous improvement, capability expansion, and smarter operations. We are refining our internal systems, digitizing processes, and implementing structured quality controls that align with the framework of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 — ensuring our future readiness for formal certification and supply-chain compliance.
Our investment strategy includes expanding our CNC machining capacity, enhancing workshop automation, and strengthening our partnerships with both local and international material suppliers. We are developing advanced fabrication processes for composite materials, improving tolerances, and optimizing workflow to deliver faster turnaround times without compromising precision.
MISCO’s growth will continue to be guided by responsible, sustainable practice. We are committed to reducing waste, managing environmental impact, strengthening Australian manufacturing capability, local fabrication, and value-adding through machining and processing while prioritizing Australian-made materials wherever possible.
Our goal is to grow responsibly - maintaining the trust we’ve built while adapting to the expectations of modern industry.
Looking ahead, MISCO is positioning itself as a trusted partner to critical sectors such as defence, power generation, renewables, rail, aerospace, and heavy engineering. We will continue to collaborate with OEMs, engineers, and project teams to provide dependable, compliant, and technically supported insulation solutions.
Above all, our outlook remains centered on the values that built this company - integrity, quality, and accountability. We aim to lead through precision, strengthen Australian capability, and ensure that every product we deliver contributes to a safer, smarter, and more resilient industrial future.
MICA and Insulating Supplies CO. (MISCO) was established in 2016 with a clear vision: to provide industry -leading electrical and thermal insulation solutions across Australia and New Zealand. Founded as a family business, MISCO has become synonymous with quality, reliability, and a customer-focused approach - the kind built on long-term relationships and consistent delivery.
2016–2023: Building Trust the Traditional Way
In the early years, our reputation grew through consistent, hands-on service and supporting customers who needed dependable supply, technical guidance, and materials that perform in real workshop conditions, not just on paper.
Over time, our role expanded from “just supply” into problem-solving. We supported customers by:
-
helping select fit-for-purpose materials based on application, environment, and electrical performance requirements,
-
supporting component-style orders, including cut-to-size and fabricated requirements to reduce customer handling and rework,
-
improving documentation consistency, so customers could order with confidence, repeat jobs accurately, and reduce internal QA friction.
This wasn’t built on hype or flashy claims - it was built on repeat business, word of mouth, and long-term relationships with customers who value suppliers that do what they say they will do.
From the start, the business was built around the old-school fundamentals that still matter most in this trade:
-
Answer the phone.
-
Quote clearly and promptly.
-
Supply what was specified.
-
Stand behind it when a job is urgent or complex.
That foundation remains the standard we operate to today—because in manufacturing and electrical work, reliability isn’t optional. When a job is down, a build is waiting, or a deadline is locked in, customers don’t need excuses or confusion. They need straight answers and correct supply the first time.
2018: Experience That Strengthened the Business
In 2018, Rhiannon Frankas stepped away to broaden her experience and sharpen her leadership capability. During this period, Rhiannon expanded her capability in project management, including involvement in Melbourne’s major infrastructure “Big Build” projects.
This experience strengthened MISCO’s approach to planning, stakeholder communication, schedule discipline, and documentation—practical skills that directly translate into better outcomes for industrial customers who need certainty, traceability, and clear coordination.
It also reinforced a simple belief: good service is not just responsiveness —it’s consistency, backed by systems that reduce errors and make repeat ordering easier for customers.
2024: A New Chapter in Ownership and Direction
After the retirement of Henry Abraham, the company’s founder, in 2024, leadership transitioned to Rhiannon and Daniel Frankas, marking a new chapter for the business as MISCO Australia.
This transition was not about reinventing what worked. It was about protecting the service culture - the responsiveness, the product knowledge, and the practical approach - while strengthening the business with more structure, modern systems, and clearer governance.
Leadership built on experience and practical results
Rhiannon Frankas brings hands-on manufacturing experience and a deep understanding of insulating products. She started her career on the warehouse floor in the electrical insulating industry, giving her rare insight into the technical and operational realities customers deal with every day. Her experience also includes project management on major infrastructure programs, including Melbourne’s Big Build, which has strengthened MISCO’s planning discipline, communication standards, and documentation approach.
Daniel Frankas came into MISCO with a career built across banking, finance, and management, where results depend on discipline - clear numbers, controlled risk, and teams that execute consistently.
In those environments, you learn quickly that good intentions don’t protect a business. Strong leadership, strong systems, and clear accountability do.
That mindset is exactly what Daniel brought to MISCO Australia.
He looked at the business the way a commercial manager would: how decisions are made, how work flows, where time is lost, where risk builds up, and how to keep standards consistent even when things get busy. His management experience means he doesn’t just focus on the figures—he focuses on the structure behind them: roles, processes, priorities, and communication that keep a business running smoothly.
When Daniel worked alongside Henry Abraham in the final year of Henry’s leadership, he gained the practical, on-the-ground understanding of the insulating industry—how customers order, what they expect, where jobs can go wrong, and what “good service” really means in this trade. That year gave him the industry foundation. His banking and management background gave him the tools to strengthen it.
The outcome is simple: MISCO remains grounded in traditional service values - but it operates with stronger structure, clearer leadership, and the commercial discipline needed for stable, sustainable growth.
A Traditional Business, Built for the Future
MISCO Australia has evolved from a traditional business into one that embraces innovation and a forward-thinking approach - without losing the fundamentals that built its reputation.
By combining Rhiannon’s technical, hands-on knowledge with Daniel’s strategic vision, MISCO Australia has:
-
expanded its product portfolio,
-
improved internal efficiencies and documentation discipline,
-
and enhanced customer service through clearer processes and faster response times.
Today, MISCO Australia is positioned as a trusted partner to industries including power generation, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy—supplying reliable materials and practical support to keep critical equipment running safely and consistently.
What This Means for Customers Today
MISCO Australia continues to operate with the same service values - straight communication, accurate supply, and dependable follow through with a stronger focus on consistency, documentation, and continuous improvement as the business grows.
We respect how this industry has always worked - relationships, reliability, and doing what you said you would do. At the same time, we’re building systems that make it easier to work with us, easier to reorder, and easier to rely on - so customers get the best of both worlds: old-school reliability with modern operational discipline.
MISCO Australia was born from the merger and rebrand of Mica and Insulating Supplies Co. in 2024 — uniting decades of experience with a renewed vision for the future. While the business has evolved, our core philosophy remains unchanged: do things properly, deliver what’s promised, and build trust through consistency.
We believe that long-term success comes from more than technical expertise — it comes from relationships built on honesty, respect, and performance. As a family-owned Australian business, we take personal pride in the quality of our work, the reliability of our service, and the partnerships we maintain.
Our approach blends traditional values with modern manufacturing capability. We honor the craftsmanship that built our reputation while continually improving our systems, processes, and technology to meet the expectations of today’s industries.
Every decision we make — from material sourcing to machining precision — is guided by integrity and accountability. At MISCO, quality isn’t a department; it’s a mindset carried by every person, every product, and every process.
Our reputation is built on doing the job right — not just once, but every time.
